On the road in Bolivia

Kevin's spanish is good enough that he understood that the travel agent was saying "no trips to La Paz; the highways are covered with stones."

But what he couldn't figure out is how the big floods that had just hit Bolivia had blocked every single route to the capital.

Eventually he figured out that it wasn't floods that had covered the roads with stones, but rather a nation wide-strike thrown by the Coca growers

angry at US-sponsored cut-backs in coca production. Fortunately for us, they called an amnesty and opened the roads early one morning

("Sr. Plaxco, we come to pick you up for the bus in one hour...") in support of those who'd been injured or killed by the floods.
